Do you have proof of the parentage listed for Abraham Andruss who married Mabel Thomas as this information is different to the info that I have.

Thanks Wilma

Hi Wilma, Would you like to tell us the information that you have and your source for it?
We know for a fact that Abraham Andrus  (Mabel Thomas)  July 21, 1717 and Ebenezer Andress (Sarah Surgis) b: May 12, 1720 were brothers the sons of John of  Wethersfield Ct.  Descendants of both Abraham and Ebenezer immigrated to Upper Canada (Ontario) and settled not far from each other.
My family also live in Ontario
My Father Edmund Andrus knew about this family that did not spell their name as we did. In 2006 I talked with Gerald Andress who had done research on his family and we realized that our ancestors were indeed brothers. Joe Andrus  in our line who researched in the States had earlier  come to the same conclusion that our Abraham was the son of John (Eleanor)

The Ebenezer family had documented in their records that  Ebenezer was the son of John Andruss (Eleanor  Hellynah Burr) born in Wethersfield, the son of John Andruss (Bethia Kirby)

JOHN Beck in his book had Abraham the son of John Andrus and Martha Warner. I had the privilege of talking with John before he passed and he then also believed that was incorrect.

We also could not find any proof that the John Andruss (Martha) had ever lived in Wethersfield.
Wilma, I do not believe Ebenezer who lived in Fairfield was the brother of Abraham who lived in Waterbury. Generally, kin of Francis the Immigrant lived in Fairfield, and kin of John the Immigrant of Farmington lived in Waterbury.

I have dna matches to Abraham Andrus of Waterbury, wife Mabel, Sons Elihu and Eldad, plus the Thomas, Carrington and Warner families all of Waterbury they married. I have no dna matches to the Andrews then to Canada Andress lineage. This tells me Elihu and Abraham are from the Warner and Andrus families of Waterbury.

The Town and City of Connecticut VOL I by Sarah Johnson Prichard has "Abraham Andruss", son of John of Westerfield, marries Mabel Thomas

The Barbour Collection also has this marriage listed.

Are you saying you believe this information to be incorrect regarding the Father of Abraham?  And you do not know who parents are?

The History of Waterbury by Henry Bronson page 15 has a map of then Mattatuck (now Waterbury) with Abraham Andruss plot.

Hello Sally

We believe that we know who Abraham  Andruss parentage is and that there is incorrect information about this with his parentage being listed as the son of the wrong John Andrus (Martha Warner] and we have been trying to give the correct information

Thanks

Dear Wilma,

Ebenezer lived in Fairfield, and Abraham lived in Waterbury, therefore I do not believe they were brothers, but cousins. The kin of a Francis the immigrant tended to go to Fairfield. The kin of John of Farmington the Immigrant went to Waterbury. Stephen Andrews who was a Loyalist, went to Canada during the Rev War. And then the name change to Andress.

I have dna matches to Abraham, Eldad, Mabel Thomas, and Rhoda, but none to Ebenezer or his descendants, which I would have if they were brothers.
