G2G: Shared Photo: Henry and Alice Tipton

Question

I wanted to share this family photo of Henry Tipton and his wife Alice Monck Tipton with the community. Alice was the daughter of my wife's great-great grandfather, Joseph Monck. The Monck family immigrated to Canada from England in the 1870's and then went on to Fresno California in the 1880's. By 1900 members of the Monck family were firmly established throughout California.

She is  beautiful woman. Both of them dressed so well. I cannot tell who is in her cameo necklace but just as beautiful. His boutonniere just as beautiful. Does anyone know what kind of chair he is sitting on? The chair in the background  is a little harder to tell. Maybe a Queen Ann's chair or something French with cabriolet legs? Anyway  handsome couple and quality furniture, no matter where it came from. Thanks for sharing your beautiful family.

Really nice preserved photo with no spots or lines etc from time. They don't look too happy though for being a wedding day.

I guess everybody looks at things differently and that makes WT a great site :) At the turn of the 20th century, the people  in the pictures did not smile very much.  It must be the style of pictures they took back then. I would believe that they were happy because of their posture. She stands straight and he sits well. They were selective in a beautiful real background. I wish I could shine my shoes that well. IMHO this would tell me that they were very happy.
