It looks to me that Joseph Blundy died in NY, which would involve American records, even if he was born in Canada.
I agree it looks like the same man, but I recommend adding the census and other sources to the profile you manage, and giving him a complete biography.
Other than FindAGrave, which you already have, I can't see any other sources for his death. Even some of the family trees on Ancestry provide both dates.
I do see a file in the New York Department of Health; Albany, NY; NY State Death Index; Certificate Number: 49581 which shows a Joseph P. Blundy, born in 1888, who died on September 17, 1942. So the death date could belong to another man, 20 years older than your Joseph.
However, since 1942 is engraved on his headstone, and in the absence of other records, you might retain that date in the merge and mention the other option in the biography as unconfirmed information.
If the other profile manager doesn't respond, you'll be able to complete the merge in 30 days.
