I have reached a brick wall, George Ragland-1159, HELP PLEASE!

Question

I have only found him in one place, 1880 US Federal Census, with my grandfather Charles A Ragland-1153.

He indicated that he was divorced, and that my grandfather was 5 at the time, so he was 55 when my grandfather was conceived.  60 at the time of the Census.  My gr grandmother was also from Kentucky, but my grandfather Charles was from Kansas.

There was a rumor about an orphan train, but no one knows if that is true or not.

There is a marriage record for Charles A. Ragland , born about 1876, married in Spokane Washington, on March 3 1902 to Ollie Sparks. Charles's father is listed as Edmund Ragland.

This raises the possibility that the George he was living with in 1880 wasn't really his father but was actually his grandfather raising him.  This is especially true if George was really born in 1820, though looking at the original census I am not convinced that his age was really 60 in 1880.

Interesting that the 1902 marriage record says her residence was Fort Scott, Kansas even though she was getting married in Spokane, Washington.

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear.  The marriage between Edmund and Margaret is two years after my grandfather Charles A Ragland was born.  The only reference that we have been able to locate for a Charles Ragland, with a birth place of Kansas and a birth year of 1875, which grandfather has given, is the 1880 US Census where he appears with my gr grandfather George Ragland.   We have been unable to determine the family link between Edmund, George and Charles A Ragland.  I have tried to find Edmund listed in any Census with any family named Ragland and I have come up blank.  I have cross referenced the three through FamilySearch.org in every configuration that I can imagine and have come up with nothing.
