Is Gulik-10 now ready to add as child of Amerman-40?

Hi Ellen,

I have added a source to the profile for Gulik-10 that I believe is sufficient to connect Gulik-10 as a child of Amerman-40.  The source is a will abstract that lists "Yocomyntie de Hart" (Jacimayke DeHart) and several other children of Hendrick Gulick that should also be added to wikitree.  Note that this source also supports Tom Quick's list of children in Amerman-40's biography.

I have disconnected Gulik-10's descendants and will contemplate re-adding them after I have added sources per your request.

Please let me know if you agree that Gulik-10 can now be connected as child of Amerman-40.

Hi Scott, I am not trying to get in your business, just want to give your a friendly tip. I  want to draw your attention to something on the profile for Jacimayke DeHart. In both the birth and death locations, you have USA. You will generate a Suggestion 603 and 633 because the birth and death years are prior to 1776. You should drop the USA, and spell out New Jersey. Thank-you my friend.

Sorry Scott, I think the will of Hendrik Gulick that has been provided as a source does confirm that Jacimayke de Hart was probably his daughter, but not that Catherine Amerman was her mother.

There seem to be a number of problems on Amerman-40, including that she may have died in 1712 but there are children born after that date, which would imply that Hendrik Gulick married more than once?  Also one of the daughters is confirmed as being baptised in April 1711, which if the baptism took place soon after her birth would preclude that Jacimayke could also be born in that year.

See in you can confirm when Catherine Amerman died, or if Hendrik married more than once, might give you some better ideas about who was the mother of Jacimayke.

By the way the will abstracts are available for free on various sites, see Internet Archive  or via the Family Search Library (scroll down for a list of the volumes and what they contain).

I agree with John Atkinson that the source you found is good evidence that Henrik Gulick was the father of Jacomyntje de Hart, but it doesn't yet prove that Catherine Amerman was her mother.

So I'd say you should connect the father, but more research is needed on the mother.

Note: I would not place much credence on the 1712 date of death that appears on Catherine Amerman's profile. In my [limited] experience, death/burial records are rare for "New Netherland" people in this time period. Typically, unless there is probate information, deaths are estimated as "after" the last date when a person was recorded as alive.
