should maps of where people lived be put in profile images or in categories?

I want to include maps of where my ancestor (Louis Jenkins-11480) lived so I can follow his path from state to state. Should they be uploaded into images on his profile or made into a category with links to his profile. The maps would also be included in his wife and childrens' profile.

You could create a freespace page, put all the maps on there as images, then link the page to his profile.  Categories wouldn't come into it.

The easiest way would be to create a Space: page that holds all of the information and map images. That way, each applicable profile can be easily referenced in the Space page, or the Space page can be referenced by the profile.

This certainly is a matter of personal taste.  It's probably more common to use the category or free space mentioned earlier.   (I agree the free space might be the simpliest.)

If you like the appearance of the maps INSIDE the biography better,  they can actually be embedded into his biography.....   It's a simple thing to learn to do.   I took the liberty of embedding the map you have already posted.   Please remove my changes..... they were just intended to demonstrate the way it would look.   Instructions to do this are available on the map image you posted,  open the image and scroll down toward the bottom right side to see what to cut and paste into the biography for the image to appear.  You have the option of  small, medium, large images  and centered or shifted right or shifted left.

If you find some really great maps you might enjoy having them in the biography.

I am using this answer to thank each one of you who gave advice for where to place these maps. I really don't know how to choose the "best" answer when each of you have given such good help.

Ginger,  what a great idea!  I am going to do this for my travelers that picked up and went - thanks for the inspiration!
