Copy and Paste shortcut for G2G questions & answers

As I am sure most everyone knows, the mouse cut/copy and paste functions are disabled on G2G threads.  The workaround is:

CTRL + C to copy
CTRL + X to cut
CTRL + V to paste

For me, this presents two problems:

1. I have to take my hand off of my mouse and that slows me down.

2. When I am copying something with oversized or colored text, there is no option to "paste as plain text."

How I would work around this is to go to the address bar on the top of the G2G thread, right click paste, the info, then right click cop, then to the thread: CTRL + V.  This presented a few extra steps and really slows me down the work flow.

In one of the other threads read that it is possible to still use the right click function of your mouse if you first hit the CTRL button.  I tried it and it works great.  In this way, I am able to cut and paste by using my one hand on the mouse and the other on the CTRL button.  This is a lot faster, AND, you are presented the option of "paste as plain text."

I hope that this will be helpful to some folks.

Not sure about other browsers, I use FireFox, and I can at least do the copy, not the cut or paste, without the CRTL functions .-

To copy:

- put the cursor at the start or end of the text you want to copy

- left click and drag to select what you want

- right click, gives a drop down menu, select 'Copy'
I use Chrome.  I can do the copy part if from a posted question/answer/comment, but within the text box here, I can't copy as I write.  Either way, does the CTRL + right click work for you to paste and/or paste as plain text?
Cutting and pasting is no problem for me, but SJ’s Number 2 is a real problem. I wish there was a way to copy and, as in Word, to select the destination formatting. I have to resize, take the colors out.
SJ ... I don't recall ever having to do the second option (paste as plain text).  So, I'm just a right hand on the mouse, left pinky on CTRL and press X,C or V with my left index finger.

I'm with Bob on this one.    If I want to remove formatting from  what I've pasted,  so far the   Tx  (Remove format)  button at the top of the "answer box" , has done what I needed.

Granted,  I haven't been trying anything grandiose.

I could cut, copy, and paste with the right-click-mouse functions (in Firefox) up until the recent upgrade to G2G.

The need to use Ctl-X, Ctl-C, and Ctl-V is a bit of annoyance (since the mouse menu works pretty much everywhere else, and I tend to forget that it doesn't work here), but it doesn't bother me much because the Ctl-key functions work fine.

The loss of functionality in G2G (resulting from the same upgrade) that really does bother me is the complete loss of the ability to cut, copy, or paste in G2G from my Android smartphone. Ctl-key functions don't work on the phone, so I'm unable to do any of those things until I can get to a real computer.
Ctrl+Right mouse click should work for you.
It's nice to know about that shortcut, but I'm OK with using the Ctrl keys on the keyboard.

The shortcut doesn't work on my phone, which doesn't have a control key or mouse buttons. It supports cut, copy, and paste functions via a touch screen menu that pops up when I select text on the screen or hold my finger on the place where I want to insert text from the clipboard. That functionality stopped working in G2G after the upgrade.

Have you tried this for your phone. I don't know what you have but just maybe it will work

Nice find, Louis. I would use that keyboard on a tablet, but unfortunately my phone screen doesn't have enough space to display it in a size large enough to use.
Nice to know that CTL-C and CTL-V can be used. I've some poor typing skills; I type things in Notepad first and then paste questions and answers not matter what board I'm using.
thanks, this is helpful
yes  I know how to copy/paste   I am an expert... cause I'm lazy and want  speed...  however,  when I take Minnie mouse to cover what I want to place on another area,  START at the top left, hold left click button down,  scroll across til all I want is covered in BLUE.. then I make sure I am above the BLUE  right click.. This then holds it while I move to where I want to PASTE IT   like   IN THIS  QUESTION  BOX..  it won't  work!.. My right clicker that is holding the copied sentence  does nothing,  zip...

It works like a charm 100% of the time when I do it in the PROFILES.....but here in G2G
On G2G you cannot right-click paste.  IF you already have right-click copied, when wanting to paste the copied text into the comment box you need to use control V.   Profiles and G2G don't work the same way, so what works in a profile won't always work on G2G.  (Also, right-click copy won't work inside these comment boxes, either.  You need to highlight as normal, then control C.)

This works for mouse users.  For those who use devices with no mouse, I have no answer.)
