Pip, I can tell you that the "generic" brands are made by the same companies as the name brands. I worked many years in a retail grocery store and our private brand label was covering up the original label from a big brand name.

Cereals are not being recalled. A report released by Environmental Working Group said they found traces of a weed killer in the cereals. The FDA is considering the results of the study and General Mills says their products are safe. But no recall as yet.

Keep in mind this particular weed killer is used on a multitude of crops, not just those that go into cereals. Probably there are traces of this weed killer in just about everything you eat. They just don't get singled out by concerned groups in studies.

Sorry, Dallace, but I don't consider it good to hear that a study found traces of weed killer in our food but the FDA is only considering the study!

Traces of elements which are not good for us are found all the time in our foods. Science and FDA usually set an upper limit below which the elements are not considered dangerous.

That is not what I meant, of course it isn't good they found weed killer in our food. I just meant good there is no recall as of yet.

BTW: I haven’t seen you say the wrong thing. But you have to expect that when we communicate online, it’s not the same as communicating face-to-face, so it’s possible for folks to misconstrue what others say.
