Adding gedcom relatives

Hi

I have a 1700 people Gedcom. Add buttons are now available as I have matched off and rejected. If I try and add a connected person it states the add button is for unrelated people - related people are to be entered from your profile. But if I go to my profile I cannot figure out how to pull in the detail from the gedcom. Advice appreciated.

Thanks

If you use the Add button from the main Gedcompare screen, the person's relationships to other people in your family may not get recorded properly. The best way to add people in Gedcompare is to start at the profile for a person who is in both your Gedcom file and Wikitree, open the COMPARE screen for that person, then add that person's first-degree relatives from the COMPARE screen. Also: Add a person's parents before you add their siblings, and add their spouse before you add the children.

Thanks for responding.
I am doing something that is obviously a simple error and don't want to replicate this for my 1700 entries.
I have now got my Gedcompare completed.
I have matched and rejected duplicates.
I can now ADD entries.
This is where I go wrong.
If I add an entry the details that appear in my profile tree do not show all detail from my Gedcom.
I’m sure I’m not meant to enter everything from Ancestry again as there would be no purpose in uploading the Gedcom. As this is years of work I need to get to grips with how to get as much data from the Gedcom to the tree as possible.
At present all I see is what another person entered if there is a match.
Theabald-587 is an example. There is virtually nothing showing, but if I go back to my Gedcompare report and press the + on left side the Ged opens and is full of detail.
I did manage to make entries for my children. An example is Pillow-180 but you may be restricted from seeing the entry. Anyway for him the details from the Ged seem to have come through.
Only reason for mentioning that is I think I added my children to the tree in a different way. I did not match them but added them as children.
So it seems that if there is a match the detail is not pulled through, but if no match it is pulled through?!
Thanks
Mike
When you click the ADD button in Gedcompare, you should see an Add Person form that shows the profile data (birth and death data, names) and text (biography and sources) that the software extracted from the Gedcom. If you aren't seeing some of that type of content, it might mean that some data didn't get into the Gedcom or didn't get parsed. But if what you are missing is relationships to spouse, kids, siblings, etc., that appeared on a display page in your software, that's content that comes to Wikitree as a connection to another profile (it's not part of the person's profile unless it was in a note field or a source). If you import people who are first-degree relatives of people already here, the connections should be preserved.
Due to privacy settings, I can't see the edit history for Theobald-587. But I do see the history for that person's grandfather Morley-2250. The edit history doesn't have the standard indication that the profile was created by a Gedcom import. If that profile was part of your Gedcom, maybe you somehow added it outside the Gedcompare process.

Many thanks - I'm making progress which is great!  I've followed your advice and added some ancestors and the full Ged detail with sources has come through.  Great and easy to do!

For the ones that were there earlier without the Ged detail - should I delete the individuals from my profile tree and try and re-do?

Also what happens if the person is a new add to Wikitree as they will not be in both my Gedcompare and Wikitree, just my Gedcompare!  Will the Add button work for them, and I then look to add them into my profile tree later?

Thanks

Mike
