No, that answer is not what I need. I know of  DNA data that connects a  living individual with an ancestor that I have entered in Wiki Tree. I've tried to add it to the line that says no DNA data connected with this individual is known, but nothing works. How to I tell people that I have DNA linked to that individual

Go to this link and just follow the directions to add your DNA test(s). :)

Wikitree only adds DNA to 5 generations back (and out to 3rd cousins) and if the person you are looking at is more than 4 generations back from you, or a 4th cousin, then NO it will not show up.

DNA is only certain (accurate) going back 4 or 5 generations,. Beyond that the connection becomes very uncertain (inaccurate or hit & miss)

As far as I can tell, all of your ancestors have a DNA connection to you.

It might help if you gave the link of the person you are trying to connect to.

Yes, I know,  that is true of autosomal DNA. but I have  a Y DNA test and that goes back hundreds of generations. I want people to know that it's there. Thanks for answering, though.

Joan,  It sounds to me as though you are trying to add DNA testing information from someone other than yourself to one of your ancestors. Is that correct? At this time DNA tests can only be added by the person who took the test.  You would need to get this individual to join Wikitree, if only as a family member in order for them to add their test details.

OK I understand what you are saying but it makes no sense to me that when  I have added a persons Profile to Wiki tree and entered all his birth marriage and offspring that I can't say that he has taken a 37 marker Y DNA test and is in Group 72 of the Walker Family Project. It seems to me that anyone interested in this line would w ant to know this. In fact, his DNA matches the other two in that group and these go back some six generations to another person I put on Wikitree. Please, tell me there is a way to do this. And forget about him getting on Wiki Tree. I found this donor by searching for a living descendant of my primary subject. He had no interest in genealogy but I convinced him to take the test. He has no interest of aptitude for this kind of thing.

Joan,

Please read WikiTree's privacy policy regarding information on living family members. There have been some changes due to the EU's GDPR regulation.

You might want to explore Anonymization as an alternative.
