My first cousin once removed had the forenames Lille Mons La Basse - she was named after three battles in World War 1 - the Siege of Lille, the Battle of Mons and the Battle of La Bassee.

I've just come across someone else named after battles - Robert Alma Balaclava Inkeman Sebastapol Delhi Dugdale born in 1857 - Alma, Balaclava, Inkerman and Sebastapol were all battles of the Crimean War - not sure as yet of the significance of Delhi though!

Which battles have you seen used as forenames?

For a while, I had a coworker named Dimaio.  I wanted to nickname her 'Cinco,' but she would not have it.  One of my many hats in that job was IT Guy.  I set her password to Puebla1862.  cool

Battle of the Bulge might not go over so well.
I mean a reference to battling weight, lol

Interesting!

Perhaps Delhi refers to the Siege of Delhi.

I have made one profile for a boy who given the name Mafeking - after the Seige of Mafeking - as a middle name. This seige happened during the Boer War in South Africa in May 1900.

There are quite a few other profiles on Wikitree with the name of Mafeking as well!!

Just for fun, I searched for profiles with the first name Shiloh, born between 1862 and 1922.  23 results (including those with no dates).
