David, I see that you your gedcom edits to https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Barents-12 made some of the profile data conform to Barents-28, and you gave both profiles a Current Last Name of Lewis.
What convinces you that the unsourced geni.com family tree you cite is a valid source, that the woman who was supposedly born in Oudenbrath, Norway (prior to your edits) was actually born in Altenbruch, Hannover, Niedersachsen, and that this woman married a Irishman named Lewis and used his last name?
The only solid source I see on either profile (but not cited on either profile -- it's in a comment box added by Bea Wijma) is the Van Rensselaer Bowier manuscript, which shows Giesje Barents, wife of Pieter Jacobsz, arriving in New Netherland on den Waterhond in 1640. How do we get from that to identifying specific parents or identifying a husband with the last name of Lewis? (And note that discussion at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Von_Rotmers-5 appears to equate Grietje Barents with the Giesje Barents named in the source.)
I suppose I might be over-sensitive regarding this family, because the outfall from a past dispute over other people identified as members of this same family had serious negative consequences for my little corner of the WikiTree community, but I do want to have assurance that we're not conflating people, as well as feel like we're doing something more useful than combining pieces from different people's totally unsourced family trees.
