Seeking birth record of Katherine Hutchinson Walker born possibly 1609 in England. Married John Walker.

In Coldham's book, The Complete Book of Emigrants, I have a John Walker transported to Virginia in January of 1627. Am in the process of searching for more information.

Hello Ann, Coddingham's book refers to a different John Walker. My ancestor came to MA in 1633 with his wife, Katherine and child, Sarah.

I'm sorry. I am writing a book called Thieves, Rogues and Vagabonds, Virginia's White Slaves, recording the reasons and history of the convict slave trade England ran to the colonies for 170 years. My thoughts run with all the names I have of the convicts.  I'm from Massachusetts.

Ann, I even though my John Walker arrived in New England in 1633 and was made a freeman of Boston in 1637, there are still many unknowns.

I will check out Coldham's book, "The Complete Book of Emigrants" to see what I can learn. Thanks for mentioning it.

If you google Katherine Hutchinson you will find many discussions about her and John Walker.  Have a read through and see if you get any results.  They suggest she was born in Lincolnshire so you would need to see the Bishops transcipts or parish registers for her birth place to see if you can find a baptizm record.  It should be noted that Bishops transcripts are copies and are open to errors.  There are various pay genealogy sites that may have records.  Here are a few free sites that are worth a search.   The bishops transcripts may have been transcibed on FamilySearch.  https://familysearch.org/     You could see if the county is covered by the online parish clerke scheme.  http://www.onlineparishclerks.org.uk/    The Internet Archive site is also very useful for parish records.  https://www.archive.org/  and of course the Genuki page for her birth place.  http://www.genuki.org.uk/

Sorry for the delayed response. I'm often traveling and I didn't see your post. I was in Lincoln in March and the researchers were not able to find anything conclusive on Katherine "Hutchinson" Walker so at this point, her surname is still not identified conclusively. It is and has been very frustrating. I have pulled out all the stops to solve this puzzle and have invested in outside research. No success. I hope someone else will take up the project and run with it. Should anyone else that is descended from Katherine and John Walker decide to take on this research project, please contact me directly and I will be happy to share what I've learned.
