Notable Anglo-Saxon historian Frank Stenton (1880 - 1967)

Question

I created a profile for eminent Anglo-Saxon historian Sir Frank Merry Stenton, KB, for the Notables Project. Shortly, I'm going to add his wife, medievalist Mary Stenton. I need some help for sources for Sir Frank.

The Oxford Dictionary of National Biography has some good info, but I do not have access to the full article. Other Online resources do not give much more than the Wikipedia article. What sources could I add?

Also, is there a project that Stenton would fall under besides the Notables? I've already added them to trusted list.

I have his classic Anglo-Saxon England on my bookshelf (yes I have read it). I have the ODNB article. It's mostly about his career but I'll check the profile.

I wish I still had my copy. It was a great read, even if required. ‘Course, it wasn’t such an old book when I was in college 30 later. It shows the impact of Stenton’s research that another book hadn’t come along even that late (mid 70s).

We can add the sub-project when it is ready and I am sure there are other appropriate existing categories as well. Will Notables be co-managing this profile? Their project box is there already but if they aren't listed as a pm (profiles with project templates need to have the project as a pm). If they decide not to England would be happy to manage this profile.

Notables is on the trusted list, but I hesitated adding them as a PM in case there was another project to take Stenton on. As I understand it, I think the Notables would rather not take on someone if they fit better in another project. Should I take the Notables Sticker off Stenton’s profile until a determination is made?

You could change the Notables template to a sticker and if they don't want to manage Frank the sticker can stay anyway. England would be the appropriate project.

His death date was 15 Sep 1967 - see The Times Monday Sep 18.

His burial was at St James, Halloughton, on Thursday, Sep 21 1967 - see The Times Sat 23 Sep.

Unfortunately neither those nor his obituary give exact place of death, nor where he married Doris. So for the moment we are stuck with Wokingham registration district.

N.B. Doris died 4 years later in Reading. I think it is pretty certain that he died in Reading.
