My grand uncle, Francis John CARTER, was born in England in 1898, moved to Canada with his family in 1905 and then to Chicago Illinois in about 1920-1922 where he remained until he moved to Los Angeles, California in the late 1930's. His father's name was Edward Bland CARTER, and his mother was Lizzie Jane HARRIS.
Elizabeth "Elsa" "Elsie" BEHRENS was born in Boston, Massachusetts to Louis and Henrietta BEHRENS in June 1885 but she often gave later birth dates. She moved to Chicago, Illinois with her parents in 1900 or earlier.
Uncle Frank was a "man of the cloth" and both he and Elsie were professors in a Baptist Seminary in Chicago Illinois. According to the 1930 Federal Census, they could have been married in 1922-1924. (Record states Frank was 26 years of age at first marriage and Elsie was 37 years of age at first marriage.) They lived in Chicago, Illinois until they moved to Los Angeles, California between 1930- 1940.
For years I have searched in vain for their marriage record. I have looked at the Cook County Marriage Index, the Ontario Canada Marriages and all marriage records available on Ancestry.com.
