How or why an X is scratched onto Annie’s face/eye is a mystery. It was on the photo when I received it. This is the only photo I have of her. I’d like to know more about the scratch and Annie.

My great great great grandmother.  I'd love to know who put the X over her face and why.  (It's not a random scratch.)

It is too bad that the x is on Annie's face, but it could be easily removed with photoshop.

She looks like a sophisticated lady. I love her hairstyle, and especially the broach she is wearing.

I bet she would have been an  interesting grandmother, and I am sure that you are very interested in her history since she was living in the 1850's.

Whether or not you find the answers to you questions, you have shared a very lovely picture with us - with or without the x, and I would like to thank you.

God Bless, Cherie.

A lovely lady. This photo has some age on it since she died in the 1880s in her 50s. She looks younger than that, so maybe the 1860s or 70s?

Thanks for sharing the photo, Cherie!
