Mary Ann or Marianne Pitt-1674 - I can get no further back than her father, Daniel Pitt-1675.

This family is fascinating as Mary Ann Pitt aka Marianne Pitt went to Jerusalem as a governess of Bishop Alexander children. To open a small Protestant mission there. Mary Anne Pitt was born in 1823. She married Alexander Thomas Crisford on 05 July 1848 at St. Paul's, Cambridge, Cambridge, England. She passed away in 1900 at Ovington, Norfolk, England. [1]

Mary Ann Pitt “Journey to Jerusalem with Bishop M S Alexender 1841”.

Transliteration from various notebooks written by Mary Ann Pitt (Pitt-1674) which she kept on her journey by ship, and camel and donkey - amazing!

Any help gratefully received. Graham Crisford

Despite the Family Search transcription, I think Ellen's age is 32; not 22. But she was 12 in 1841 living at St Saviour, Southwark, Surrey

There's also a baptism of a William Pitt son of Daniel and Mary Ann on 10 Dec 1820 at St Benet, Gracechurch, City of London which might  be another child. ."England Births and Christenings, 1538-1975." Database. FamilySearch. http://FamilySearch.org : 3 March 2017. Index based upon data collected by the Genealogical Society of Utah, Salt Lake City.

Thanks, that's most helpful. I'll have a look through all my research and on my Reunion software, where I keep everything and let you know how I get on. Regards, Graham
