I am looking for the marriage record for Henry Guest in Devon, England.

Henry was born around 1817 in Devon, possibly around the Totnes or Plymouth areas. His parents MAY have been Andrew and Mary but dont quote me on that.

He married a girl named Mary somewhere around 1837 or possibly as late as 1843. (the oldest daughter was born in 1844). Before or after registration began - I cannot find any marriage in the registration records.

In the 1841 census Henry appears to be single and staying in Exeter with a family named Morris. (born Devon 1817)

He died in Newport, Monmouth, Wales in 1850.

In the 1851 census, his daughter Sarah (bn 1844) was living back in Devon with her widowed mother Mary and her younger siblings Mary and Henry.

Sarah is the ancestor who continued the line to the present day, But I have no idea what her mother Mary's maiden name was. If anyone can find that maiden name, (and the marriage) I would really appreciate it. Mary was born in Uggborough, Devon around 1817.

Thank you.

Her name was Mary Crocker.

GUEST, SARAH         CROCKER
GRO Reference: 1844  M Quarter in TOTNES  Volume 09  Page 593
GUEST, MARY         CROCKER
GRO Reference: 1847  D Quarter in TOTNES  Volume 09  Page 496
GUEST, HENRY  GUEST       CROCKER
GRO Reference: 1849  D Quarter in NEWPORT  Volume 26  Page 97

Henry's birthplace should be Magor not Major.

She's either Mary Ann Crocker, daughter of John and Sarah:

Or Mary Crocker, daughter of William and Elizabeth:

More likely to be the first set of parents - John and Sarah Crocker - since the oldest daughter was also called Sarah.

If Henry's parents were Andrew and Mary, that covers the second daughter being called Mary after her paternal grandmother.

And young Henry was named after his father.

I will check a few census records to see if this might be confirmed.

Thank you.
