Hi Looking for information about Edward Pierce from or lived in Morgantown PA, He married Elizabeth Posey, But I cannot find anything about Edward, maybe that was not his first name? Would like to know who his parents were,

Was told we are related to Franklin Pierce the president, but cannot track anything from Pierces brothers to an Edward. Anyway, any help would be appreciated.

Be always wary of Indian ancestry claims by otherwise Northern European-descended ancestors... So many have proven to be false... Doesn't mean it isn't true, but do the due diligence required to prove it...

Could be the right family, , in the right area, and they did have a son John, if it is the same Pierce. So hard to find anything, and the census has so many misspellings. I do have Edward and Elizabeth Pierce having the following children

I see Micagei name is spelled differently, ack, so confusing!

Father of Rachel Rebecca Pierce, Mary Ann Pierce, Elizabeth Pierce, Martha Pierce, Sarah H Pierce, Jeminah Pierce, John Pierce, Micajah Pierce, Sydney Pierce and Edward Pierce
Oh thanks for all your hard work in researching this!
Yes Jilliane I agree with you about being wary, I am not so concerned with his first marriage. Thank you!
Donna,

Inconsistencies in name spelling-- both first and last-- are frequent prior to 1900.

Why you should be concerned with his first marriage: finding it could provide you clues as to the identity of the parents for Micaji.

:-)
Where do you look for marriage certificates? I am guessing you have to belong to a paid site? One of these days I have to join, is Ancenstry.com the best , I've seen other ones out there. (Just an amateur at geneology, sorry! )
Micagei first wife was Anjaline Wamsher (b - 19 December 1830; d - 12 December 1830
Anjaline's death date cannot be correct: a) dying a week before she was born? b) dying before she was married or had 11 children through 1876?

Finding birth certificates depends on the state and county and time period. Only a fraction of U.S. birth certificates/records have been digitized and made available online-- whether through free or paid sites. Also, actual marriage and birth *certificates* were an invention of the late 1800s (typically after 1880?). Earlier than that, you'd need to look at church records-- again, only a fraction of which have been digitized and put online.

But the LDS (Mormon Church) has microfilmed practically every record known to man. While they are slowly converting their filmed contents to digital, you may still need to order the microfilm through your local LDS family search center and read through church records. OR you hire someone else to do it for you.

Sorry, I have to get my dates in order, right now everything is in a mess.
Thanks for the link! I have a lot of people from Lancaster, this should be very helpful!

1860 Census:

Ephrata, Lancaster, Pennsylvania:

Micaji Pierce, 27, carpenter, b PA

Angeline, 27

Sarah, 4

Henry, 3

Eliza, 2 months

If Sarah was the oldest, it implies a marriage of Micaji and Angeline about 1855.

That means we should find Micaji with parents and/or siblings in the 1850 census. Do you know Angeline's maiden name?

I could not find Micaji (var. spellings) in the 1850 census. Knowing the name of his first wife might help.

In 1870, Micagea (!) and wife Angeline and first five children are found in East Earl, Lancaster, PA. He's farming.

Some updates to the info that John Gibble gave you. Found through familysearch.org:

Ella S. Pierce who m1. ___ Rebholz, married 2nd on 10 Sep 1918 in Harrisburg, Dauphin, Co., PA Washington K. Kohl.

Emaline Pierce who m1 ___ Weidman, married 2nd 28 Apr 1900 in Reading, PA Lewis H. Matz.

You might find others through familysearch.org. I was searching for Angeline Pierce after little luck with Micaji. In the process, saw a couple of cases where he was recorded as MICHAEL!
