When I'm doing sourcing for profiles and marking the Sourcerers challenge (off the list) I sometimes get this message: For this challenges profile doesn't officially qualify:  Why?

Are you sure the 'doesn't officially qualify' message you're seeing isn't meant for the Connector's challenge checkbox immediately below the Sourcerer's challenge checkbox?

If it is for the ConnectorsChallenge,  that answers my question.  It wasn't clear.
I was about to post this as well - I’ve only seen this message relating to Connectors where the profile’s branch is already attached to the main tree. It’s a bit oddly placed on my screen - not obvious that it’s about the connectors option.

Which profile? Need to know a bit more, before anybody can help you with why it might not qualify.

This is just a guess off the top of my head...

For any given challenge event, I imagine there's a list that's been generated. If the profile you're working on isn't on that list, then it doesn't qualify for that particular challenge event.

For the Sourcerers' Challenges the profile had to exist without a source for more than a specific amount of time.  I think it might be a week.  I know it is more than a few days...

The profile cannot have already been submitted during this challenge.  Duplicate saves are barred.

The profile cannot be newly created.

Those are the things I can think of that might  be triggering the alert.

Adding a source to a profile that already has some sources does not qualify for the Sourcerers Challenge.

Generally the only profiles that qualify for the Sourcerers Challenge have the heading of UNSOURCED in brackets.

If a profile does not have the UNSOURCED tag, but like others have said, if it has not had any sources for an extended time period, then it will be accepted for the Sourcerers Challenge.

EDIT: you should be able to find a list of unsourced profiles by going to the top of any wikitree page and clicking on FIND and going down to UNSOURCED PROFILES and click on that.

By clicking on any of those profiles, you can see what the unsourced templated looks like.

I just checked it out and there are only 12 profiles in that list! I know there are a lot of unsourced profiles, so I don't understand what the list problem is.

I think none of the above may apply.  The profiles are on the unsourced suggestion report with the {{Unsourced}} template.  They have no other sources.  I am not near a computer to check dates to see when a profile that I received this "For this challenges profile doesn't officially qualify"  message was created, or listed as unsourced.  I will check later.

The "Unsourced Profiles" link in the Find dropdown menu defaults to showing you only the profiles on your watchlist with the {{ Unsourced }} template.  Which is why you see 12 (nice!), and I see 176 of the darn things.

In the upper right-hand corner, below the dropdowns, if you click on "Show All" it will give you the first two hundred of the thousands of unsourced profiles on WikiTree.

Or you could go HERE or There and go nuts.
