There is Francesco Mangini born around 1860 in Italy...and his wife Maria Scarpello born about the same, in Italy...

Trying to find Francesco's parents and Maria's parents...Francesco and Maria came to the USA in the late 1880's...lived in Manhattan for a bit...had children of Tom, John, Joseph, Frank, Antonette...

Eventually moved to New Jersey...

Believe that Francesco may have died August 17, 1906...Maria Scarpello Mangini may have died in the late 1920's...did not appear on 1930 census or after...

If you are not already familiar to it, you may find many answers at:

which is also free.  A search result there will supply volumes of useful information to the researcher - just be sure to take your time on each page and gather as much information as you can.  Also, there are excellent source citiations at the bottom of each page which can (and should) be copied and pasted into the Source section or each individuals' Profile while editing there.  Use a variety of seach parameters and spellings to widen or narrow your results.

This is probably NOT the person(s) you are looking for, but since I had a moment I decided to do a quick search for "Francesco Magnini".  The below is probably for his son or grandson:

"Italy, Toscana, Civil Registration (State Archive), 1808-1923," index and images, FamilySearch ( : accessed 01 Sep 2012), Francesco Magnini, 1894.

Obviously, the below result may be Francesco's son David's marriage info, which may open other avenues of search:

"New York, Marriages, 1686-1980," index, FamilySearch ( : accessed 01 Sep 2012), Francesco Magnani in entry for Davide Magnani and Rosa Vignani, 23 Feb 1884; citing reference , FHL microfilm 1570328.

Lastly, it may be that you have already used and exhausted the Family Seach files and others - in which case you are kind of 'brick-walled".  If my info above is more basic than you need there is no harm in your saying so.  ;o)

Hi Keith,
Yeah, I'm familiar with familysearch...just not able to find Francesco's folks...or Maria's...maybe their are tricks to try and we're just not doing it right...

I believe when Francesco and Maria came to America in 1888, they had 1 child with them, BELIEVE it was Guissepi (sp?), and he was 2...

Sorry for lack of info...
Did you notice that Francesco and Maria are listed as the parents for David AND that the wedding took place in 1884?  A small difference of 4 years from the idea that they arrived in 1888, but then, did New York have a state census in 1885?  Did Francesco file for Naturalization?

Again, it may be that you've already "turned over those rocks" so to speak, but the questions DO leap to mind.

Good luck and never give up!

Am unsure if Francesco or Maria for that matter ever filed for Naturalization...

I don't believe David would be a child to them...Francesco and Maria both were born around 1860 (ish)....and in 1884, they would have been around 24...and this David would have to be older in order to be married...

We do know that before Francesco and Maria left Italy, they had 4 children that passed away and was buried in Italy...and then they brought Guissepi (2 yrs old) with them...

I wish there were a way to find Naturalization for them...we believe Francesco may have died August 17, 1906...MAYBE...his last child born was Frank J Mancini...(My wife's Grandpa)...Frank J Mancini married Ida Centrella...Frank died in 1982 in Bloomfield, New Jersey...not sure if any of that helps or not...

Thanx Keith...
