This is a post for us to communicate with each other before and during the big event this weekend. Are you ready for it? 
 

Teams will probably be similar to last year which you can find HERE That link also will show the links to the different space pages.

Sept 28 - Oct 1. 8 AM (ET) to 8 AM (ET). That is the official Source-A-Thon Times.

What counts as unsourced?

How do I use the challenge tracker?

If you ever click on a link which gives you a "SDMS SERVER ERROR" do NOT panic. Just click "OK" and then click "GET PROFILES" or after clicking "ok" disable Adblock Plus for that site.

Ok, all you Southern Super Sweepers dust off your keyboards (I'm still looking mine, I know I left it on my desk somewhere), registration starts in a few short hours... If there is someone out there that wants to join THE FUN TEAM, follow the instructions below.

When you get the registration process completed, add a post to this page and introduce yourself to the rest of the gang! Laura or I will contact you :)

Dear team-members,

I want to share with you what has happened, Several teams are popping up and claiming some of our states.

Here's the breakdown:

Team Acadia – Louisiana and Texas – Joyce Rivette

Bama Bushwackers – Alabama – Topher Sims

Carolina Cousins – North and South Carolina – Cindi Clark

Virginia Challengers – Kentucky – William Foster

Southern Soucerers and Southern Super Sweepers share Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Oklahoma and remember we have to share these with Southern Soucerers and Southern Super Sweepers.

Of the States left, Possible Errors:

Arkansas -7,000

Florida 4,300

Georgia -13,000

Mississippi - 5,900

Oklahoma - 5,500

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to handle this????

So here's my question . . .

Can I still be on Southern Super Sweepers and source Texas files, even though another new team has claimed it?  Would it still count towards the SSS points?  Just curious.  Thanks!

I am awaiting an answer for y'all's questions but I am almost positive they will count. I want my sourcing to count for SSSweepers and Texas.

I want to do some Boot Scootin' Boogie over Texas and get her cleaned up! She's my home State!

Just be aware there are some leaders that are poaching our teammates and we need to close our ranks and get some more members for our team!

Got the answer! We're good!

It's totally fine to have teams that overlap.  

Any profile someone adds a source to can count towards 

their total and the team totsl, even if they are working on

 other locations.  

We have several teams that aren't location based at all.  

It still works :)

Hi! You list Team Virginia as one of the teams "popping up claiming some of our states".

Please note that Team Virginia has welcomed West Virginia & Kentucky researchers for all the thons, beginning with the first Source-a-Thon in 2016. If I recall, Southern Sweepers was first fielded for the 2017 Clean-a-Thon, so, technically, y'all popped up and claimed Kentucky when it was already covered. However, I'm pretty sure there are enough unsourced profiles to go around!

Yes Liz, unfortunately there are plenty of Unsourced profiles to go around. :(

The mission is to correctly source as many as we can no matter where they are.  :)

Global Teamwork is what we need to strive for.  :)

Each time an unsourced profile is corrected, everyone is a winner!  :)

Working Together, we can clean and source WikiTree!  :)

Jon past this little tidbit to me, MY Heritage is giving free 2 week trial.. NOT SURE LIIMITS. Might want to check it out!

Thank you Loretta for leading the Southern Super Sweepers this fall with Laura B. 

I know you both will do an outstanding job.  

I will still be participating with the group inbetween my visiting with my brother and his new wife in California during that time frame. Just need to pack my laptop lol!!

Is this where we register?  I want to get an early start this year.... I am in for the Fall 2018 Source-a-Thon!  Looking forward to working hard.  I do have a conference on the 28th, but other than that, I should be good to go!  Thanks to Loretta and Laura for leading us this year.  I'm glad to hear you will still be with us this year, Dorothy!

The Challenge Tracker seems to be getting hung up and timing out.  Any ideas on how to remedy this?  All those Sourcerers must be working hard!!! Thanks in advance for your help.

Just curious - anyone else having problems with the tracker?  I've sourced several profiles and can't get credit for them.  Any advice is much appreciated.

Hope you are looking over all those Unsource Profiles and figuring out a strategy. I was told to ignore anyone born after 1940 because the census records have not been released to them and they will be difficult to source.
