George:

What an additional GEDCOM upload will likely do is make matters worse by creating profiles for all the people in the new upload IN ADDITION to leaving the ones there from the prior upload(s).

GEDCOMs are notoriously unreliable, and it is often simpler (and, yes even faster) to just get in there and make what corrections, editiions, additions, deletions are necessary BY HAND.

Please remember, the slow going in Genealogical work is in the research, collection, sorting and connecting of the data.  Once you have that, inputtng, (even manually) is the EASY part!

Please read or re-read the article in the Help Pages under GEDCOM:

Good luck!

Keith, don't know anything about the current status of GEDCOM stuff, but I'm just about to have a play with writing a wee program to add a WikiTree template to all profiles in a GEDCOM and don't know how seriously to take it.

In other words a standard header and footer of plain WikiTree Edit Text are added to a partilucar  field in the GEDCOM file. Don't know if that sort of thing would help.

A fancier preprocessor might strip out unrequired fields that are not required.

I realise this is a separate thing than duplicate profiles, but thought I'd ask.
