Posthumous marriage error

+4 votes

On saving this profile I get several red messages, not without reason,

but #4 says "A marriage date (1568) should not be after a spouse's death date (1609)".

Well I agree with the sentiment, but not the arithmetic.

Could it be because Thomas's death is set to "after 1550" which is before 1568?
Hmm, yes.  Since it's just this profile and doesn't happen with loads of others, looks like that has to be the reason.

So, looking at it from Anne's point of view, she shouldn't have married Thomas (1568) after he was dead (1550).

But from his point of view, it should just say he shouldn't have married (1568) after he was dead himself (1550).  His spouse's dates are irrelevant.
The big flaw is with the error checking routine but the dates on his profile are not the greatest either. If he was born in 1554 and married in 1568 would it not be more accurate to have his death date "after 1568"?
I would suggest his death date be after the birth of his last child (1579). Since it is an estimated date it might even be wise to remove it completely until a more accurate date can be found.
