Adding DNA from a sibling

I've been told that I have to have my brother sign in as a guest to add his DNA to the database for privacy reasons. Is there a link for the procedure to do this? I'd like to be able to give him some simple step by step directions. Thanks

Hi Mary,

There is 2 Options.

1. You can create a profile for him and than edit the profile and add an email address. I would suggest using gmail so the emails go through. After he accepts the invitation he will be come Profile Manager of his own profile as a Family Member and than he can Select the test you have taken here.

2. You can have him Sign up for wikitree https://www.wikitree.com/index.php?title=Special:Userlogin&type=signup If you're sharing computers you will have to log out of your wikitree account before you can create another account. After he has been confirmed he will be able to Select the test you have taken here.

If you have any further questions about adding DNA feel free to look at the Help Category for How to Get Started

Mary,

The easiest way to have your brother’s DNA Test added to WikiTree is to go to his profile and on the Edit page, add his email address in the box provided. He will get an email invite to join WikiTree as a family member.

Once he is set up as a family member, he can log into WikiTree and go to his profile. At the top of the profile page under “Add”, he selects “DNA test information”. On the page that comes up, he just adds whatever test he took, his profile name for that testing company and in the case of GEDMatch, the GEDMatch ID number. Then he hits the save button at the bottom of the page.

It takes about 24 hours for the test results to migrate upline through the ancestor profiles.

Great Answer Erin. Keep up the great work. Thanks for helping out others.yes

Thank you, Steve. I need to remember that someone usually gets a response in before me when I’m on the iPad though. laugh
