Have we changed our policy about living people?

I just noticed that people entered life details and names on Senator McCain's profile today.  Both wives, divorce details, mother all spelled out on living people.  Thought that was not allowed.

I'm not sure what you mean by "life details". There are names, but I don't see anything that would conflict with GDPR. Those names are public knowledge and there are no dates or places attached to those names.

Well, except for his marriages - dates as well as the brides. cheeky

You're right there are dates for the marriages. On the other hand, unless we are going to begin removing all links to Wikipedia or any other published material about public figures I don't see the problem and if we go that far we may as well remove any profiles of public figures, living or deceased, right now.
The only reason I mentioned it is that there used to even be a statement on the profile put on by the Project that said the names of living family shouldn't be mentioned. Also, remember that Chris gave us a long statement about the EU rules coming shortly. It is all quite confusing. Someone removed the aforementioned statement, but I don't think it was the project. It's wonderful that people are interested and willing to participate, but it seems to me that even though the profile is open, the profile is protected and we should discuss how much to include in consideration of those living. The wives are not members of Wiki and it was my understanding that unless all parties are deceased, the rules are more non-inclusive. Also, people who want to do work on the profile should remember that they still need to discuss it with another TL or project member. We don't want to end up sounding like a version of "The Inquirer".LOL!!  I'll be gone most of the day with medical stuff for my own POW, but hope we hear from someone who we can trust as having an appropriate answer for us as none of us wish to be showing disrespect. Have a great day everyone! And most importantly, thank you for caring to get it right.
Actually, living public figures HAVE gone Unlisted...think of the Queen of England
I understand everything everyone is saying about this. My point is that if we are going to scrub all profiles of any mention of living or potentially living family members, then we need to scrub all sources that may mention any of those living family members. Some of this just seems a bit overboard to me but I'm always willing to observe WikiTree policy as long as I know what it is.
