Hi and Welcome to the Club Jen,
First thing is, you should be contacted by a WikiTree Greeter. They will be your best friend as you get used to WikiTree.
One of the easiest things to do is just Click on your Last Name on your Profile. A new page will open with a listing of all of the Fisher Profiles presently listed on WikiTree. In the upper right corner are variations of possible different spellings of the name over the years. After you add a Profile with your Mother's Maiden Name, go ahead and try that there.
Look at the top of the page and there are different links to do many different things. I would try to explain them, but there are way too many and it is so much easier if you click on them and find out what they do yourself. Experience is better then reading the ramblings of an old man. LOL
This will help get your feet wet on what is available on WikiTree and what you can do.
Though I will be vilified by many who hate the idea of paying to look up records, if you are really new to the game of genealogy, I strongly suggest at least a one month purchase of an Ancestry Com membership. It has records on different data. Many the same as Family Search, but also many they do not. And I find their Search and therefore Hints a bit easier to use than Family Search. It is a great place to get started as it is geared for the Newbie. Use it to get the ball rolling and back it up with research on Family Search as well as WikiTree. One thing to watch out for is what is called an Ancestry Member Tree that will appear in your Ancestry hints. Be wary of those as the folks who made them, sometimes they don't make the right choices and can lead you off on a wild goose chase with an incorrect ancestor.
After you get started, then you transfer the Ancestors you have found to start building your WikiTree Family Tree here. The beautiful thing about WikiTree is the connections you can make with people as you add your ancestor's Profiles to WikiTree. I have found more than a few cousins through WikiTree I never knew I had. And the G2G Forum is the place to go as a new genealogist as the folks here will bend over backwards to help you. Even if the question is about Ancestry or Family Search or whatever. Remember, everyone here started out like you. A yearning to find where you came from.
All the best and have fun.
