I'm looking for any information about my ggGF James David Bowland Sr.. He was born in 1848, and died in 1929, killed in the Civil War. He was married to Catherine Baddor. I can't seem to find anything on family before him, so it's like he came out of nowhere!

Something isn't correct here.  If he was killed in the Civil War he couldn't have died in 1929?
What location - country, region etc. is he found in any census? What were their childrens names and birthplace?
I'm sorry...It's a bit confusing since at least 2 had the same name. I think his (my gGrandfathers) birth date was 1848, but there was also another James David Bowland born about 1820, and he was the one who died in the Civil War. This would have been my ggGrandfather.

I had looked at him before, but dismissed him as the wrong one because of the wifes name. I never found the "Headstones" record. Thank you so much! Now I know where he ended up. Now to find out where he came from, and who his parents were! HUGS for finding my Grandpa!!  :)
