The 1776 Project seeks to recognize those who participated in the American Revolutionary War.  

The 1776 Project honors those who were involved in the early history of the United States of America, circa 1773 through 1789, by adding and improving their profiles on WikiTree. This time period covers the Boston Tea Party, through the War for Independence, to the ratification of the United States Constitution by our Founding Fathers.

I would like to join the 1776 Project. I am a DAR member, my proven ancestor is Capt. Jason Duncan, Ft Dummer, Dummerston, Vermont. Duncan-1368.  I have a supplemental application in process for Thomas Sargeant, Sargent-3175, also of Ft. Dummer.

A 3rd great grandfather Benjamin Runions, Runions-37, was a private in New York for the duration of the Revolution who later went to Canada.

I would like to join the 1776 Project. My 4x GGF, Josiah (Baldwin-10529), served in the Revolution as an artificer at Fishkill NY. He was the youngest of four brothers. His oldest brother, Col. Jeduthan (Baldwin-9142), engineered the fortifications at Mount Independence and kept one of the most concise diaries of the Revolution. The second oldest, Capt. Isaac (Baldwin-10531),  died during the battle of  Bunker Hill, and his third oldest, Col. Nahum (Baldwin-7319) served with the New Hampshire militia. Then there is Josiah's wife's four brothers, the Greens. All four were Minutemen. Zeeb (Green-28848) served in every major battle in the Revolution. His oldest brother, Major James (Green-28849) and his baby brother, Lucas (Green-28835) died at Bunker Hill. His second oldest brother, Lieut. Nathan (Green-28831) died at the Battle of Monmouth. Zeeb was the only brother and son to survive the war. It would be an honor to recognize these ancestors with the 1776 badge. Thank you, Carol (Baldwin-3428).

Hello, my name is Tim Martin. I haven't added Revolutionary War to all my ancestors to this website yet, but they are many and I will be updating more information as soin as I can. A few Surnames in my leanage would be Wyatt, Mercer, Baugher, Fly, Null, Clark, Tucker, etc. Alot of these line's also faught in the Civil War, WWI and II among some.

I can tell you my Mercer Leneage was not a fan of the separation and were supporters of the crown. After the war, the Mercer family was kick out of town. One line went to Ohio and gave birth to Solomon Robert Mercer in 1795 and the other line went to Tennessee and changed their name to Kulbeth. I used a distant Mercer cousin's Y DNA on the familydna website and found this out. I thought it strange that the surnames were different but all the right DNA markers check out and the Kulbeth was a close cousin, so I investigated and made contact. #FamilyStories

I would love to join the project.  I have several ancestors, all patriots, and love learning more about them.  Special shout out to my 5x G-Gfather Thomas Cunningham who not only fought for independence, but a few years later had his four young children murdered by Indians and his wife captured and held for three years.  When she was released they had a large family and he became a minister.

I would like to join the 1776 group.  My ancestors came to the US as indentured servants and after settling in Pennsylvania, enlisted as a soldier in the war of 1776.  It is his story that sparked my interest in Genealogy.  I have recently received the approval to join DAR.

Is this project still closed? My 3rd great grandfather was a free man of color and fought at the Battle of Kings Mountain. He joined when he was 17, I have a lot of his papers.

Yes, I have ancestors on both sides, Currently looking at members of Delancey's Brigade of Westchester, NY that came to Nova Scotia as Loyalists.

I have researched a lot on the actions of the patriots involved in the activities of 1776 and would like to join.  Additionally I have an ancestor who was an original member of the Society of Cincinnati that made me eligible to also join.

I am currently heavily involved in researching the Battle of Brooklyn.

I look forward to helping out.

Yes please. All of my direct ancestors on my paternal side  who were of age fought in the Revolution. One branch had a 66 year old man and his 13 year old grandson fighting together. I am especially interested in the DeForest or Forest,  Forrest brothers of Taunton or Scituate Massachusetts and the DeForest brothers of Connrcticutt,  known as the Revolutionary brothers along with their cousins. Some settled in Unadilla New York. Thanks in advance.

I would like to join the 1776 project, I have  several ancestors and distant family members who were in the Revolution.  Currently I am working on finding and recording members of my ancestor, Antoine Paulin's infantry company of Moses Hazen's 2nd Canadian Regiment and their descendants.

Yes, I would like to participate in the 1776 Project. The main reason is that I would like to participate in the Signers of The Declaration of Independence Project and their page at [ https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Category:Signers_of_the_United_States_Declaration_of_Independence ] indicates that the project is managed by the 1776 Project. I can't find a way to join that project so I am inferring that I must join the 1776 Project to work on the Signers Project.

I have an interest in Joseph Hewes - a Quaker signer from North Carolina. I have several pages on my website about Joseph Hewes and I would like to add to the biography of the Joseph Hewes profile.

Yes, I'd like to participate.  One ancestor served with four brothers, and one of them was killed at the Battle for Bunker Hill (my ancestor eventually returned home and took that brother's family in with his own).  Another was part of the Boston Tea Party.  And another responded to the alarm on 19 apr 1775 to Lexington Commons.

I was in this for the finding of how far back we can go and where are we from. Along the way I started to learn about the history of America, which I was aware of but always struggled with dates, etc, etc;  Ever since I made it back a few hundred years, and thanks to others, one family profile the 1100's, I have been able to identify who was where when, I cried, got angry, and excited. The wars are a very sad and troublesome time, but real.  People want to know the outcome even when it isn't pleasant. I know I am working on one family profile of a person who was born 1782, and there is no connection to this person except his wife and kids. We know he did not die in the wars at least.

I'd like to join and get my badge.  I'm related to Benjamin Franklin (and Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry and Mayflower passenger William Brewster).

I've got lots of data from decades of effort by my dad but he did it on a Mac in a program called Family Roots.  I can't find a way to export it in gedcom format but I can read it.

I don't usually work with colonial ancestors; my experience is mid-1800s. But here we are with a Rev War ancestor and I want to do it correctly. Need info on sourcing DAR, Military companies and other items. [[Barney-1258|Elisha Barney]]  Access to Google Group is fine.

I am interested in this project. Do you include United Empire Loyalists? My progenitor fought with Skinner's Greens, New Jersey Volunteers, 3rd Battalion.

Yes, but my interest is specific to my Clark and Bubier ancestors who were rebels in Nova Scotia with Col. Eddy against Ft. Cumberland.  My ancestors include Mary Bubier, whose cousin, Benjamin Bubier, features in the Studholme report, and my (speculative) ancestor, Joseph Clark, who is also called out as persona non grata in Nova Scotia in the report and was a first settler of Levant, ME by 1789.  Joseph is the presumptive father of Ichabod, who is poorly documented other than his marriage post-war and being the father of the earliest 'cleanly documented' ancestor.

So for me, the interest is the New England Plantern in the St. John valley and their participation with Col. Eddy in the ill-fated attack on Ft. Cumberland.

I am also trying to further trace and document my earliest identified Guillow (Francois Yves Guillou (Guellou)., b. 12 OCT 1740 • Rennes, Ille-et-Vilaine, Bretagne, France; d. JAN 1803 • Gill, Franklin, Massachusetts, USA).  There are war records, but the family "legend" was that he was an officer under LaFayette - so here I am trying to find why he came from France to a British colony and what he really did, etc.

I've always wanted to know if any of my ancestors fought. Just this year I discovered that Col Thomas Gilbert was a Loyalist who moved to New Brunswick, so now I'm curious to learn if I have any Canadian cousins, while his daughter's family, and my ancestors remained in Mass.

However, I'm also trying to expand my family tree to identify more folks who may have served and we simply never knew about them.

I would like participate in the 1776 Project.I currently have (6)known patriot ancestors on my paternal side.I'm particularly interested in restoring (1)ancestor,Barbara(Fought/Vogt)Overmyer to the DAR Patriot Index.She was an accepted path to DAR/SAR prior to 2000(patriotic service-preparing bodies of the dead)but removed around 2000 for more documentation.She was the wife of patriot,Capt. John George Overmyer & sister of another patriot Michael Fought/vogt.

I had family members on both sides, Colonel James Agnew (44th regiment) was the older brother of my 4x Great Grandfather and their 4th cousin was Colonel James Agnew of Gettysburg, PA (1742 - 1825).

I myself was born in the UK but after marrying an American citizen moved to the US in 2008 and took up American citizenship in 2016.

I would love to know more about my ancestor Robert R. Armstrong, born around 1755 somewhere on the trip from Scotland to North America (possibly Ireland, possibly at sea).  Genealogy boards have said his wife was Mary Starrett but I have no documentation of this.  Had several sons including Daniel Armstrong, b c 1794 in NY and settled in Wisconsin; also a daughter Mary Olive "Polly" who married Chauncey Weeks and also moved west.  If anyone can share more information on this branch of the Armstrongs, I would very much appreciate it.

Daniel Armstrong's first wife Laura Weeks may have been related to the Weeks family of whom 3 perished in the Wyoming Massacre (1778) and others fled and survived.  There are quite a lot of Weeks in 1700's North America and I would love help sorting out who was who.
