Do you know your Clements Y-DNA group?

A male Clements cousin of my husband has had a Y-111 test at Family Tree DNA, so we know he's part of Group 8. Their oldest documented ancestor is William H. Clements

I'd love to hear results for anyone else willing to share them.

Dear Ellen,

My son just had his DNA tested. I'll post it when I know.

Sincerely,

No "Y" here, but some history:

I'm a descendant of Clement-1442, who went to Warren, New Hampshire, and built an inn by the crossroads of two bridal paths.  More info:

He was a delegate to the Constitutional Convention in Concord 10 Jun 1778., selectman of Warren 1783, 1784 commissioned a Major of 13th Regiment, 1786 made a Colonel.”Ances, & Desc. of Robert Clements” by Percival Clements . DAR Patriot Index shows him as a Capt. in the Revolutionary War, in NH., 8th Co. 12th Regiment. Col. Israel Morey.

Please contact me if you are interested in more about this "twig", as I recently proved this family line for the DAR.  Percival Clement's book can be found online, and it can be purchased through Higginson Books of Massachusetts.

Regards, Janine

Super! Will you be adding your information to WikiTree (if you haven't already)?

I wish my line were as illustrious and well documented!

Hi Ellen:  Yes, I do know my Clements YDNA Group, It is Group #12, tested by a Male Cousin through FTDNA back in the year 2005. It ends with  John Clements of Hanover County, Virginia, 1660-1749, which includes, his Son's 1. William Clements of Amelia County, Virginia, 1682-1760, 2.  John Clement, Jr. 1687-1748, 3. Stephen Clements, 1692-1746 of Goochland Co., VA, and 4. Half Brother: Simeon Clements, 1721-1800, Granville Co., North Carolina.  My line of Clements, Starts with My Cousin threw his Grandfather, Louis Earl Clements, my Great Uncle, his Brother Oscar Walton Clements, was my Grandfather.  There YDNA matches the way to John Clements of Hanover Co., VA. 1660-1749, to his oldest Son William Clements of Amelia Co., VA. 1682-1760 to his Son Capt. Benjamin Clements, of Pittsylvania Co., VA, 1707-1780 then back to them. I am a women, so I don't count in YDNA, but I have done my Autosomal DNA through 23andMe and I have connected with Early Clements in my Family tree.  One thing I want to say, is that our YDNA is NOT  related at all to Jeremiah Clements of James City County, VA.  The YDNA pattern for that Clements Family is very different and NOT related to ours.   Also, Francis Clements, of Isle of Wight and Benjamin Clements of Gloucester County, VA are also not related.  Their YDNA patterns are very different.  But Francis Clements of Isle of Wight & Benjamin Clements of Gloucester Co., Virginia are most likely cousin and belong to your Group # 8.  Jeremiah Clements of James City Co., VA only had one heir and it was NOT Male and the family he belongs to has a completely different YDNA pattern from Group #8 or Group #12.  So, Thank you for asking, and hopefully others will pay attention and start correcting these lines here at Wiki tree to make them fit not just with documentation but also with YDNA results, since the results are positive and have shown they are 3 completely different Clements lines.

Hello Ellen,

Are you willing to ask your husband’s Clements cousin to join WikiTree so his Y-DNA information can be automatically associated with his direct paternal line?

Thanks and sincerely, Peter

Good idea. I'll ask him. In the meantime, he's on FTDNA and lists his furthest known ancestor as Lyman Jairus Clements.
