Question

Hello Team Missouri participants!

This post will create a thread where we can work together to coordinate our efforts. Thank you for volunteering to help and joining our team. This is the place for the team to ask questions, give advice, see updates, and cheer each other on.

I'm your team leader this year. Shirley our leader in years past has a few too many things going on in real life that will prevent her from participating this year.  If you have not registered but want to join Team Missouri, go to the Registration Question and get your bib number then come back and let us know you want to join our team.

Hi Team Missouri,

I live in California now, but I'm from the St. Louis area, my ancestors hail from Missour-uh, Illinois, Iowa, and Kentucky, and would like to apply my source efforts for Team Mizzou. My bib number is 358.

Hello,

I am here for Team Missouri. I have registered and my bib number is 119.  This is my first Source-A-Thon so any guidance is greatly appreciated.

I am a born and bred Missouri girl. I have lived my whole life in the St.Louis area, but my ancestors hail from all over southern Missouri -- primarily New Madrid, Pemiscott, Mississippi and Scott counties.

Welcome Kathy! The Team Missouri has lots of good information. I’ve found it’s best to source from web sites that everyone has free access to. My favorite is familysearch.org. Before I did my first source-a-thin, I did a few practice profiles to get my feet wet. Most important thing to remember is to have fun!

I live in the Missouri Ozarks and also have many ancestors in Illinois, Iowa, and a few in Kentucky and Tennessee. May work on my Fuller/Weaver lines who migrated to the Iowa and Illinois. Not sure when/how much I can contribute.

Linda Sellers and S. Taylor, I need your Bib numbers please so I can add them to the team page.

Also, if there's one of the states you plan to focus on please let me know so I can add that to the team page. We currently have two that are focusing on OK so you may want to discuss what you plan to work on so you're not stepping on each other's toes.

When y'all get a moment, you might want to check out the team page. The "spread sheets" for each state are perfect to work from during the SAT. The page also has a list of sites you can use for sourcing. As I recall two years ago we took the Family Search.org site down because too many of us were using it. LOL

Most important thing is, have fun!!

My race number is 491 and I'm one of the Okies... I looked through the list a bit before bed last night and picked out a few things I'd like to start with: Everett's in Erick, OK, King's and Boyd's in Oklahoma, Gibson's in Oklahoma - these are all potential relatives. I've also been researching the Younger family since it's my father's adoptive family, so I wanted to add sources to Catherine Francis (Simpson) Younger specifically ;) Other than that, I'll just work on whatever is available ;)

How is everyone! So sorry I am late. Thursday was my birthday and my husband surprised me by having my daughter who lives in Cape Girardeau come in town. I am here now. Happy Sourcing Team Missouri!!

We were 30th when I got home from work yesterday and 20th when I went to bed. We've been hanging at about 23rd all day.

I haven't been on as much as I would like and doubt I'll top my 1000+ profiles I had the first year. But hey, it's all about having fun and I do love to source!
