Valentina Getsch Shows her Baby Bump in Russia

I wanted to share this family photo of Valentina Konola Getsch with the community. Location: Russia. Date: 1932. She looks so happy here. And no idea how her life will be turned upside down when she comes to the US with her son Walter.

New babies mostly eat and sleep.  The Mrs. feeds him and then I get to hold him.  Thankfully, the Mobi wrap frees the fingers to type ;-)

So I guess I could say I'm teaching my newborn all about genealogy ;-)

Congrats! on being a new dad. Children are wonderful. I wish I could have known my grandmother and for her to have known all of her son's children.

Good for you! Start ‘em young! Just wait ‘til the young one is old enough to start visiting cemeteries. I did that one. Mine is 27 now and still goes on cemetery trips with me.

I’ve been reading up on automobiles for the Soviet Union. Mostly Soviet cars were reserved for bureaucrats in the early 1930’s. So thinking that for Valentina Getsch to be standing near this car, someone in her family had to be. Bureaucrat. Could this car be a Hudson 8 passenger model. Don’t know if Hudson made cars in the USSR? Or is it a GAZ model passenger car?

Keen Points Sandra Buranen ! .. There are several specific details that I've yet to matched precisely. 

1. The door opens from the middle out to the front. (A significant number vehicles during that period opened front to back.)

2. The double bevel trim line across the top of the doors extending to the front.

3. The absence of the spare tire or side mirror.The mysterious round element to the left of the door line and just before the front fender. Possibly an attachment device for a spare tire that isn't featured.  

4. The unique three identical hinges, (rather then two) that attached the door to the frame.   

5. The distinctive sun visor on the top outside the front window that is found on many models during the 1930-1940 time period. 

6. I don't believe it is a Russian made car. I think it is American or European.

OMG Blown away! It looks identical to the car Valentina is standing next to in the photo. Thank you Jerry, great job. I’ll do some research on American cars in USSR back in the 1930’s and see if that offers clues as to who her family was.
