It is trully amazing how names have changed through centuries. My surname WILSON is very common though a majority of family whom came from England spelled it as WILLSON for several centuries. I was reading a book about the Nordic spelling as WILLISON was popular. I am still trying to get my head around how regional areas and timelines adopt different spellings. After reading several old documents where few people could actually read or write and what was written was done so mostly phonetically the possibilities appear nearly infintie. I still have family in areas whom chuckle as "r r r" and other family in the north whom end nearly every sentence with "eh".
