Jack C. Mayhan (mahan) mississippi. m to eula odom d: benice melba jean mayhan

Question

jack appears in 1930 census along with my grandmother, eula odom, and also on her social security claim adn death forms. My mom is also listed on these documents at bernice melba mayhan.  She never knew her dad and when her mom, eula married ben higgs a few years after her birth, she is listed on teh 1940 census as his (ben higgs) adopted daughter.   although not officially adopted. I find lots of mayhans from mississippi, even some jack mayhan's.  however, they are all ruled out by the fact they also have a 1930 census listing them as being in other locations with different spouses, etc.  I can't find one jack or john mayhan who fits the time frame and location. he was born in 1901 or close to it. he lists his parents as both born in mississippi, but i cant find any reference to any member of hsi family.  Can anyone help?

Where was Eula Odom located?  I saw her listed last night when I was looking at Mississippi Marriages in Leake County I thought.

That would make her part of my husband,s Odom family. His ggreat grandmother was Ella Odom and his Mother was named Melba after a relative.

He has one aunt and uncle left I could contact to find info for you if this is your family.

I don't know how I missed this post, although it's true I've been traveling since 1st of October.  It looks for sure like same family. My grandmother's mom was Nancy Ellen and her dad was c Odom. Interesting the melba name as my mom was Bernice melba Jean....I have lots of info on the odoms...its my grandfather I am stumped on. I don't think he actually married eula although they claim it on the 1930 census.

I just realized I have heard Eula mentioned as Aunt Eula. There are two members of my husbands family both VERY elderly my husband can ask about this Eula Odom. Hopefully if he can reach them we can get you some information.

Can you private me some more details about Jack? What date the census showed he was born?  Where? How old he was in 1930?

I have been searching and found a couple spelled Mahon and Mahan in Obits that died in their 80's.

The odom infor you have on Eula would help also.

Nancy I would like to see this information you hsvr. I believe there was a Nancy Turner who married into this Odom-Ellington line. I know your Turner or made a typo but either way I know notthing of any line but Odom and would like more info please.
