John Lloyd of Niagara Co. NY; dead end reached as to parents, born 1768 in PA

John Lloyd was early settler of Niagara County in 1800, having been a soldier at Fort Niagara. Does anyone think it possible that his parents are John Lloyd 1735 Brunswick, VA and Sarah Harper b. 1755 Philadelphia. Sarah Harper would have died in 1771 in Alexandria VA when above John Lloyd was three, which would correlate with family Bible notes that he was born in PA but moved to VA at age 3. Perhaps raised by a grandparent? Family Bible mentions he was member of “military honors” that attended the body of George Washington to the grave in 1799, so assume he had some ties to VA militia at some point as he returned from Fort Niagara for the ceremony. I realize that Sarah Harper if birth date was correct would have been 13 when John was born, which is possible. Anyone that can point me in the right direction?

I’m on my phone right now, so having trouble searching, but if you haven’t already, check out Jordan’s book: Colonial and Revolutionary Families of Pennsylvania (all 3 volumes).  Several John Lloyd’s discussed in there.  Might or might not solve your riddle, but may at least help by process of elimination.  He also has a book: Colonial Families of Philadelphia.

I’m finding a Sarah Harper Lloyd, born in Philadelphia 1755, married a Nicholas Lloyd. They have a son John, born 1775 (not 1768) who lived and died in Alexandria, VA.  Probably rules that out anyways, unless some dates,locations are not accurate in the reference.

Yes I had wondered about that, and saw that Sarah Harper Lloyd died in 1771which according to the family Bible is when John Lloyd moved from Pennsylvania to Virginia (age3). As I also know that John Lloyd became a soldier at Ft. Niagara in Youngstown, Porter, Niagara County New York somewhere around 1788, he must have been expelled or left the Quaker faith. He married Mary Ann Brown of Essex County New Jersey. John Lloyd built a cabin in Niagara County in 1801, followed in the next few years by Thomas Brown and his children, including Mary Ann. I am assuming since this part of New Jersey is near Philadelphia that John was originally born in the Philadelphia area. A lot of this is just guessing and trying to pull threads of information into one piece of cloth.
