Removing Categories before contacting profile manager

I don't know if I am in the right category for my question.  My ancestors are from a small community in NC.  The town included three brothers with the same last name.  Each brother established his own cemetery just 1/2  to a 1/4 mile from each other.  They are distinguished by each brother's first and last name.  For example:  There is the cemetetery created by Thomas McDougle, one created by his brother Alexander McDougle and one created by his third brother John McDougle.  They are all sepereate and distinct cemeteries except on Find A Grave which indicates they are one.  Not true! \ So, I am sure that someone trying to be helpful and kind saw my three cemeteries and mistakenly deleted two believing they were all the same cemetery before contacting me.  I have lost hours of work carefully labeling each cemetery and identifying the people buried there.  I want to know if we can ask that categories not be deleted in error until the profile manage can be contacted and a reply received.  I know we want consisteny and clarity.  But if you are not from that area, ask before deleting. Please!  I know intentions are good but now I  have to recreate.

Hi Jo,

You may want to point out specifically in the Biography the mentioned text above when noting specific things. Also on the Category Page for each of the categories it would be best to mention it.
It is also important to follow Problems with Members when dealing with such situations. Perhaps a Friendly Message to the Genealogist would be the right behavior.
When dealing with unwanted changes like this one, remember that the change history of the page is preserved, so you can go back in the history, find the categories that were removed, and restore them to the page.
Before anything is recreated, can you provide links to the profiles or categories that were changed so we can investigate this further?
After digging around, I was able to find a couple of the categories in question. Checking the log files, I do not see that any categories were outright deleted. One (Young Cemetery) was renamed to the correct format, two others appeared to be duplicate categories, (John A. and John) and the last one has not yet been touched (Duncan).

I think what you have witnessed is a cleanup in progress. The categories you created were picked up by Category Error reports as they had no parents, and contained clearly duplicate information.

If there is a need to recreate categories associated with these cemeteries, please let me know and I can personally assist you to make sure they are done correctly.
Best answer Steven Harris (if it wasn’t a comment lol). I have no idea how you dug into that without a profile link but... brilliant! And a kind offer of help for what could be a formatting issue! If it’s the ‘bot’ that’s edited the profile then fair enough... but Jo, if it is another wikitreer, then just look who edited your profile and send them a quick message to see why they did what they did, let them know background as you did in your question... maybe put some of the text from your question into the relevant profiles under the heading ==Research Notes==

Helpful volunteers may not see your note if it is not prominent enough.  I would consider adding a section at the top of the bio:

== Notice about cemetery category ==
My ancestors are from a small community in NC.  The town included three brothers with the same last name.  Each brother established his own cemetery just 1/2  to a 1/4 mile from each other.  They are distinguished by each brother's first and last name.  There are three separate cemeteries for these profiles: x, y & z

Good Point. Thanks for bringing this out.
Ignore my the bit of my comment above about ==Research Notes==, for some reason I missed your answer SJ, apologies. That’s a much better idea than mine :-)
