1830s - Almshouse Records in NYC?

Does anyone know how to find Almshouse records for New York City in the 1830s? I'm looking for Margaret Jackson. She was apprenticed out of the Almshouse in April 1842 to Edward Ebbets. She was nine years old. I can find her in the 1850 census still in the Ebbets household.

I'm looking for intake or exit records - or maybe a census. I wonder if she was an orphan. I wonder if she was born in New York or if she was an immigrant. I'm looking for any related family.

Thanks!

Hi!

You might want to check with the New York Genealogical and Biographical Society. I know they have some almshouse records on film but I'm not exactly sure for which years.

I've created a profile for Margaret here on WikiTree. Perhaps some related family will be able to make a connection!

Here's the link to her profile: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Jackson-8129
