Yes, that is the correct JOHN DOUGLAS. He was supposedly orphaned soon after his birth and raised by his grandparents? I am trying to locate who his mother and father were. His grandparents were WILLIAM DOUGLASS and MARY (?) who in William's 1773 will named their children as SOLOMON, DAVID, and ELIZABETH. There are grandchildren listed as JOHN, WILLIAM and MARY.

I found an ALEXANDER DOUGLAS and a JOHN DOUGLAS who may have died around 1764 in North Carolina but that's all I've got. We are told John's (1764-1839) father was going back to Ireland or Scotland for family business and became sick and died, and that his mother died soon after his birth also.

Unfortunately, everything I found says his parents are unknown.

Thank you very much. I have established a connection of John Douglas (1764-1839) to his grandparents William and Mary Douglas, so hopefully someone can help me trace this William Douglas (d. abt 1773 in Rowan County NC) back to Ireland or Scotland. My goal is to figure out exactly where my husband's family originated in Scotland. Thanks!
