I'm wondering if we could or should honor Joseph Merrick " the elephant man" 1862-1890 with a profile on wikitree.

Can you please make the profile, thank you.
Colleen, there's no reason you shouldn't make the profile since no one else has done it.  Have fun!
Hi Colleen,

Yes, maybe now is the time. I was tied up with the Orphan Trail before, but have finished now.

Too late.  Here he is.  I don't plan to do any further work on him, so you are welcome to adopt him.

Hi Herbert,

Thanks. I have been checking and may as well add his parents. What do you think ?
Yes David, absolutely, otherwise he will remain Unconnected indefinitely.  He also had siblings who died young.  You posted while I was making the profile.  I'll orphan him for you.
I have searched through Wikitree for his parents and grandparents and can't seem to find any of Joseph's ancestors either.

If they were here, you would have found them.  Go for it!  yes

My thoughts exactly. I happened to read an article on facebook, (so I checked to see if Joseph Merrick (John) in the movie, and yes, sad to say, I'm old enough to have seen the original movie) had a profile, and neither do his recent ancestors..and yes, I checked...lol.

I'm friends with one of his relatives. I could ask him.

I've actually worked with Joe on his website.

Info on Joe: https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Serebii_(person)

If you want to contact him, e-mail him at serebii.net.

Update: I have spoken to Joe (Serebii) Merrick about Joseph Carey Merrick. He said that since it's for historical purposes, it's perfectly fine. I may link it to him once it's completed.

The ball's in your court, Wikitreers. =)
