Record says 'Olivier Lambert, fils majeure de Joseph Lambert & Josephte Rhéaume, de St Vincent de Kinsford? . . .' but I can't find anything close to St Vincent de K*.

"Québec, registres paroissiaux catholiques, 1621-1979," database with images, FamilySearch (https://familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QSQ-G993-4W77?cc=1321742&wc=9RL8-L2S%3A23303601%2C23303602%2C14257003 : 16 July 2014), Saint-Venant-de-Hereford > Saint-Venant-de-Hereford > Baptêmes, mariages, sépultures 1862-1876 > image 56 of 91; Archives Nationales du Quebec (National Archives of Quebec), Montreal.

PRDH's free access link says marriage of Olivier Lambert's parents Joseph Lambert & Josephte Réaume occured in 1848. So I am on track to find out Olivier's ancestor born in Europe through PRDH database.

I hope someone does not come up with more details info via PRDH including place-name of marriage and details of earlier generations . . .

That should simply read '. . . Olivier Lambert, fils majeure de Joseph Lambert & Josephe Rhéaume, de St Venant de Hereford . . .'

Which leaves to wonder where in USA Joseph Clouette & Suzanne Palin are from: '. . . et Suzanne Palin . . . États-Unis . . .'.

PRDH subscription is of no help in terms of identifying Joseph's parents . . .

It appears Suzanne's last name is Polin or Palin.

Hi Claude,

Just looking at the Drouin record for the marriage of Olivier and Mathilde, the record is extremely faint, bad ink I guess, hardly legible, but Drouin institute read the names as Olivier Lambert, son of Joseph Lambert and Josephte ___, residents of St-Venant-de-Hereford (where the marriage took place), with Mathilde Charrette, daughter of Joseph Charrette and Suzanne Polin, residents of Massachussetts.  The marriage date they read was 5 Sept 1872.

Comparing to the FS copy, the date I see is 9 Sept 1872.  Parents for Olivier are Joseph Lambert and Josephe Rhéaume.  I believe the place Mathilde and parents come from is Lowell (which is in Massachussetts if I remember correctly).

The family name for his wife can be read as Clouette or Chorrette, and since both exist, you'll need to track the parents in the US I think.

Got it.

originis.ca says of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu that:

  • Saint-Luc's parish register opened in 1801
  • Saint-Athanase's parish register opened in 1823.

Both parishes are listed in FS menu of parishes at the link https://www.familysearch.org/search/image/index?owc=https://www.familysearch.org/service/cds/recapi/sord/collection/1321742/waypoints .

Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu is not listed in FS menu of parishes.

This sort of confusion about historical versus modern place name designation underscores the need to stick strickly to historical place names including in terms of reflecting differences between Drouin and FS in Quebecois Place Name Guideline.

Je ne sais pas si vous avez trouvé ce que vous cherchez ....

Les parents d'Augustin et Louis sont

Joseph Lambert et Marie Josephte Rhéaume

donc .... si vous regardez le profil ...

Augustin n'a pas les bons parents

Bingo! The system does work. I am most grateful to you for this.

This unearths Joseph Lambert from Fort-Ames, New York, connection to the Rhéaumes, etc. just nicely.

According to originis.ca Saint-Jean l'Evangéliste's register opened in 1828.

Many thanks.

Concernant:

Augustin n'a pas les bons parents

J'ai fait la correction.

Merci.

It is plausible to think in terms of the Louis Lambert born on 11 Aug 1845 to later be changed to Olivier Lambert, which is as now shown in profile.

FS actually lists the following three items for Quebec, Catholic Parish Registers, 1621-1979  Saint-Jean Parish:

  • Saint-Jean-Baptiste
  • Saint-Jean-l'Evangéliste-de-Dorchester
  • Saint-Jean-l'Evangéliste

Baptism records for Louis & Augustin Lambert are available in the Saint-Jean l'Evangéliste 'tout court' item.

Decyphering Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu is decidedly tricky.

Assuming that

  • Louis Lambert born on May 11, 1845 became Olivier Lambert through change of first name.
  •  Olivier Lambert's godfather Olivier Lambert (b. in 1821 at Beloeil, d. in 1900 at Paquetteville, m. in 1841 to Lucille Dansereau at St-Marc-sur-Richelieu & then in 1856 at St-Hyacinthe to Olive Roireau) and his father Joseph Lambert are brothers

allows tracing  Olivier Lambert to the line of Lamberts whose ancestor born in France is Augustin Hébert dit Jolicoeur.

Gaëtan Lambert, the Association des Lambert's d'Amérique's longtime genealogist who was in charge of compiling the ALA's genealogical dictionary published in 2006 entitled Les Lambert en Nouvelle-France advises that:

  • Regarding Joseph Lambert (who married Josephte Rhéaume and is now known to have died at Paquetteville on Jan 10, 1877 and whose son Olivier Lambert married Mathilde Clouette moved to Manitoba in 1879), his parents are not known.
  • Regarding Joseph Lambert (who married Marie-de-Lima Bonin and who moved to Manitoba with above mentioned Olivier Lambert in 1879), there is no known link between the former & latter Lamberts and the former Lambert's parents are also not known.

Edit, about 2:17 PM MST: Upon closer inspection of Gaetan's e-mail, it turns out that Joseph Lambert married Marie-de-Lima Bonin is actually the son of Jean-Baptiste Lambert and Léocadie Rinfret dit Malouin and a direct descendant of the Claude Robillard (born about 1650 in France) line of Lamberts.
