Did John Curtis and Elizabeth Hutchins Have a Son Philip?

John Curtis, b. Essex England 1577, married Elizabeth Hutchins, b. 1587 Nazeing, Essex, England. Three sons were baptized at Nazeing: John, Wiliam and Thomas.

Online family trees show a son Philip, b. 1623 at Nazeing.  There was no Philip baptized in Nazeing or Waltham Abbey near 1623.  In her Will, Elizabeth only mentions 4 children (the three sons and daughter Mary) and does not include a Philip or any children of Philip. If there isn't any evidence, I would like to disconnect him.

I believe he may be the son of William Curtis and Sarah Eliot, but I don't have a source for this, either.

Is there any evidence of John and Elizabeth having a son Philip?

Victoria, Your Philip appears to be a different person, unless he was born in about 1623 in England, then maybe.

I'm not familiar with this Hutchins family but for what it's worth, Byam and Hutchins, in John Hutchins of Haverhill state that:

"Elizabeth Hutchins of Waltham, County Essex, England, married John Curtis of Nazing, England on 19 April 1610 and had three sons, John, William, and Thomas Curtis. It is believed that she came to America in 1632 as a widow and moved from Roxbury, Massachusetts to Wethersfield and then to Stratford, Connecticut (7). However, the John of Roxbury in 1638 may have been her husband but died soon (8). Elizabeth died in June 1658. On the tax list with John Curtis at Nazing were a John Hutchin and a Thomas Hutchins (9). No relationship is known between Elizabeth and these other Hutchin-Hutchins."

I can provide the references they mention if you'd like them.

Thanks. I appreciate this is "negative confirmation" that there was no son Philip. I'll wait a couple more days before disconnecting to give others a chance to chime in.

According to "A genealogy of the Curtiss family being a record of the descendants of Widow Elizabeth Curtiss who settled in Stratford, Conn., 1639-40." by Frederic Haines Curtiss. 1903., Philip Curtis born ca 1632 in Nazeing, was the son of William and Sarah Eliot Curtis. Philip married Obedience Holland in Oct 1658 in Massachusetts. He died in Grafton, MA in Nov 1675. ***(Dodd, Jordan, Liahona Research, comp. Massachusetts, Marriages, 1633-1850 [database on-line]. Family History Library, Salt Lake City, UT, Film # 0741320.) and (Torry, Clarence A. New England Marriages Prior to 1700. Baltimore, MD, USA: Genealogical Publishing Co., 2004.)

Also, Philip was listed as a child of William in POPE, CHARLES HENRY. The Pioneers of Massachusetts, A Descriptive List, Drawn from Records of the Colonies, Towns and Churches, and other Contemporaneous Documents. Baltimore, MD: Genealogical Publishing Co., Inc., 1998. 550p. p.126.
William Curtis arrived in Roxbury, MA in 1632 with the following children: Thomas, Mary, John, Philip. (Filby, P. William, ed. Passenger and Immigration Lists Index, 1500s-1900s. Farmington Hills, MI, USA: Gale Research, 2012.)
Hope this helps.
