The American Civil War has similar groups like the Revolutionary War has the Sons/ Daughters  of the American Revolutionary War. The Civil War has some groups such as The Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War.  There is also for the Daughters of the Veterans of the Civil War also. They even have a membership for those that are not a direct descendant.  All of these groups deal with facts and documents pertaining to the American Civil War, Here are some of the groups. Please feel free to message me if you want any information about these groups. They are looking for information, pictures and similar things to preserve history.

The five Allied Orders of the GAR are:

If you are a direct descendant to a veteran of the Union Army then click on Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War

If you are a female direct descendant to a veteran of the Union Army then click here Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War

If you are not a direct descendant of a Union Veteran but want to offer your assistance. Here are a couple of links

I know wikitree has NSDAR category, I am linked.  But is there an LGAR and DUV?  I also belong to these.  but can not find them in the many  choices of categorie:   genealogy,  society,   lineage???????  UDC is there but not  Dau. of Union Vets........hmmmmmmmmmmm
Carole, I am new at the Civil War category. I do not know if they have those choices. That is why I was elated to add this information to G2G. This may suggest this to Wikitree.  WT is always looking for an improved site.

And what if you are a descendant if a Confedetate veteran??  Does WikiTree hokd the PC opinnion that your ancestor is a slave owner and traitor of the US?    Do they want all the memorials to our Confederate veterans and their leaders torn down?

Not at all, Anon. I have several ancestors that have designations and stickers for their service in the Confederate army in their profiles. It has never been discouraged on WikiTree. We don’t make judgments in this area. So, what you have done is jumped the gun and made assumptions that because the subject of this query was about Union service, recognition of Confederate service is discouraged.

Better to get all the facts before asking rhetorical questions about WikiTree. We are here for genealogy, not politico-social commentary.
The lineage society for women descendants is United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC).

Thank you Pip for the work for the Confederate links. I finished the Union part at 4AM. I planned on doing the Confederate today. but due to your head up work like always, it is not needed now. Thank you. I opted to do one Union and one Confederate discussions I do not mix everything up.

Like you and Wikitree, I do not hold judgement. It was two separate conversations. But your good work blended everything into one just wonderfully. Again, thanks for the work involved.
