My tree is easily known back to Salathiel R Clark (1805), and inferred by Salathiel's records to his parents Ichabod and Mary (Lancaster) Clark.  They feature in Col. Eddy's recollections and other early history of Bangor, being married by the Rev. Seth Noble.

The 1800 census shows all the Clarks in greater Bangor as coming from "St. John", except Pecallis.  An older Joseph is inferred from the Studholm report and the "History of Penobscot County, Maine".

1800 Census; Icabod assumed born 1777, so 23 years old.  Same for Mary.

Salathiel not born until 1805

In any case, it appears the group of them came from Maugerville-Gagetown area and were involved with - or children of people involved with Col. Eddy.  i cannot find birth records online in Maugerville for any of the younger Clarks.

Any suggestions on how to break through this wall?  Family "knowledge" says NW Ireland, but I am assuming Ireland --> New England --> Nova Scotia --> Maine.
