Which men are Staff Captains? Russia Imperial Army 34th Artillery Brigraide. May be related to Valentina Getsch

This one is going to be a toughie. Sandra, do you have any idea where and when this picture was made? Since “Imperial,” I know it was before 1917. All of the insignia is difficult to make out.

The reason I'm asking is I'm trying to identify Staff Captain Константин Бонифатьевич Чебанов. In English the name is:

Konstantin Bonifatievich Chebanov

His name is part of an inscription on a prayer icon my grandmother brought with her from Russia back in 1933. I believe it may be her Uncle. From what family members have told us her Uncle was a member of the Russia Imperial Army.

For what it's worth, Konstantin Bonifatievich Chebanov appears in the 1909 calendar of all officers active in the Russian army ([https://rosgenea.ru/?lin=biblos&book=4] at col. 659).  At that time he was a staff-captain in the 34th Artillery Brigade, stationed in Aleksandriya, Kherson government.  He was presumably the brother of Georgii Bonifatievich Chebanov, who on the same list (col. 563) is listed as a staff-rittmeister (i.e., cavalry captain) in the 8th Voznesensky Ulan Regiment.  It's not much, but it's a start and would be enough for a records searcher to pull their service records in the archives at St. Petersburg.

Thank you for finding this information Kelsey. Finding information on Russian ancestors has been the most difficult thing ever. We have found so many of my father’s Finnish relatives but not a single member related to his mother. I guess we will inch our way along until find a connection. Again, thank you for helping
