Hi,

I have a dna link to Johan Jacob Helderman and Rebecca Ward, Balszer Ward is her father. (1768-1840 NC) I am also dna linked to him. I have not added him yet. My gedmatch is A883636 and I am wondering what other Ward matches I might have.

I have one that I suspect was there at one time. They ended up in South Carolina, then Georgia, Wilkes, Jackson, and so on in that area.

I suspect they may have been in Kentucky at one time also. Have a brick wall at 1795.

Can’t help you on the Wards, but I have Haldeman/Helderman info that you might like to have. Send me a “pm” if you want to discuss what I have.

I notice, btw, that Johann Jacob’s sister married Jacob Killian about 1801 in Lincoln County. He was a cousin in my Killian family. I also notice that several of the Heldermans migrated to Cape Girardeau, Missour by 1821, where several of my German families also moved.

Yes, I have some family members branching from John Wesley Helderman I think that settled in cape Girardeau. The Helderman Name and various iterations is spread out in Mennonite or German colonies throughout the world. I am sure some are not related but it is an interesting puzzle.

I have a Sarah Ward born ca 1764, NC, who married Claudius Carteret (Cartrette, Cartrett, Cartwright), b. 1774.  They lived in Columbus County, NC, as well as Bladen and Robeson.  I have contacted members of the Ward family of Columbus County, NC and it appears Sarah was not of the Ward family of Columbus County.  Claudius Carteret and Sarah Ward were my g. g. g. g. grandparents.  Their daughter Lucy Ann Carteret married Curtis M. Spivey.  Their son, Ephraim married Nancy Spivey, a first cousin to Curtis.
