Arthur Barnard Jarvis married Ernestine Ada Elizabeth Ashe ub Sydney on 26 December 1890.  They had three children. Roy, Jessie and Alfred.  They were divorced and he returned to Victoria where he lived for the remainder of his life and died sometime in the 1920's.  I would like to know any further information concerning his background and what happened to him during the time he lived in Victoria.  I believe he lived in Richmond.

Hi, I think we have some potential links for you, we have Alma Jessie Beryl Jarvis (b. 1892) who m Peter Nelson Whitleaw on 11/8/1915 and died on 10/5/1947. Alma had 2 x sons John Nelson Whitelaw (b 1921, Rockdale, death 28/1/1974) + Noel Nelson Whitelaw (b 17/8/1922 - death 19/7/1995).

Alma was known as Jessie in our family and we think she is the daughter of Arthur Barnard Jaris according to the info we have been able to locate. Alma was my great grandmother, but passed away prior to my birth and lived in Rockdale (Sydney) NSW.  She had been born in VIC according to the certificates we have viewed.

Please dont hesitate to contact us if you have any questions, would be happy to assist as we are literally just starting this particuarl WIKITREE this week but have several records.

Kind regards

Nola
Hi Nola,

Yes we definitely have a link.  Alfred Barnard Jarvis was my father and Jessie (or Alma) was his sister.  My father was also born in Victoria. I knew that Jessie had two sons who I knew as Jack and Noel.  Jack was obviously a nickname.  I know that there was a 'falling out' between Jack, Noel and my Dad very early in my life but I have no idea what it was about.  After that we lost all contact.  You are obviously related to Noel, going by your name?

Most of my genealogy information is on Ancestry under Jarvis Family Tree. I have a photograph of Roy, Jessie and Alfred with their mother which was taken when they were quite young, although Roy is in Military Uniform.  There was a big age difference between Roy, Jessie and my Dad who was the baby of the family.  There is also a beautiful photo of Grandma Jarvis (Ernestina Ada Elizabeth Ash).  We also have a photograph (on Ancestry) of Peter Whitelaw in uniform.  We also have information about his Unit.  He was in the 9th Field Ambulance.  I know that Ada and Arthur Jarvis were divorced and he remained in Victoria, but I know little of his life.  I have located a bit more information about his mother and father who were William Jarvis and Emma Gerrard who came from South Australia.

I am very excited to get this information.  Are you on Ancestry?  If so I can forward you my Family Tree which has extensive research.

I started to change over to Wikitree but found it difficult to fill in all the information.

Look forward to hearing more from you.
I am Noel Whitelaw's daughter so Jessie would have been my grandmother but died before I was born.  Dad never mentioned what the falling out was about and I never knew Jessie was divorced nothing was ever told to us.  I only started looking at family history that day and was surprised  to get a hit straight away it was only because I started with dads birth certificate that I had a couple of names and had seen the Graves at Wonorora Cemetery Sutherland NSW.  I would be so grateful for any information you have I can be contacted at nolawinter@gmail.com

Sorry it took so long to reply but have been on holidays
