I don't know if my information will be any help, but here goes. My step grandfather, James Arthur Williams had a mother, Maude Wolfe, who had been married to a Fred Wolfe. They lived in Morristown. When I was 2 (1953), my mother and I moved in with James and his wife, my grandmother, Mary (Hoffman Prentice) Williams. We lived in Knoxville TN and frequently visited his mother, Maude, who lived with her daughters Kate and Margaret. Fred had died. Son Harold had been killed in a plane crash. Son Woodie had married Eileen and they were living in St. Louis MO. They visited home from time to time. There were often family Sunday dinners and picnics in the Smokies. I was a child, so the family relationships weren't as interesting to me as the lovely home and garden I played in during visits. They were all so nice to me! I don't know how James came to have the last name Williams, unless Maude was previously married. My mother told me that she thought his grandmother was a Collins. Several family members were buried in Jarnigan's cemetery, near the tall Collins monument. James, my step grandfather (and true grandfather of my heart) died in 1960, I think. Since neither my mother nor my grandmother could drive, we were unable to go to Morristown to visit. I lost my grandfather and the whole family, in that sense. That Maude Wolfe died sometime before we left TN in 1968. I remember overhearing the call Kate made to my grandmother to tell her Maude had passed away.
I have a number of old pictures of that family that I would love to email anyone who is interested.
Also, James Arthur Williams married another Mary before marrying my own grandmother, Mary. He and the other Mary had two children, James (Jimmy) Jr. and Betty Horner. Jimmy had a son, Michael and Betty had a daughter, Sally.
