Are you able to connect a lost Key West, Florida native with his ancestry?  Shane Thompson was a professional SCUBA diver.

Comments

His parents are probably still alive, so privacy rules present a major challenge.  I doubt we could make much progress unless someone knows his most recent deceased ancestor.

Peter, he may well have been born in Key West, FL.  That only says he was a resident of New Mexico at the time of his death.  People do move around a lot over here.

The articles transcribed in the profile suggest he lived in San Diego, and was only visiting New Mexico for this dive.  I'm not sure those transcripts are properly cited and attributed.

Oh.  "Australia and New Zealand Obituary Index" made me assume :-(again) that it was a report of a citizen from one of those countries.  So I'm back to him likely being born in Key West with earlier ancestry from the Bahamas.
