L'Assomption was the result of the merger of the parish municipality of Saint-Pierre-du-Portage-de-l'Assomption (incorporated 1855) with the town of L'Assomption (incorporated 1888) in 1992. L'Assomption is located about 50 km northeast of Montréal, in a loop of the meandering L'Assomption River, just below the confluence with the Achigan River.

Hi Andrew,

Created the cemetery category for you and put it on the profile.

The husband's name needs to be fixed up, Simpier may be what it became in English, but the actual name found on Julie's funeral record is Amable Champou, whose family had the dit name of St-Pair or St-Père (gets written either way, sic).  He was born 25 Mar 1788 and baptized 27th in Bécancour, name at birth is Amable Champoux.  His father is named Amable Champoux dit St-Pair on the record.  https://www.genealogiequebec.com/Membership/LAFRANCE/img/acte/608289 Drouin IGD baptism image (membership)
