Why isn't Sources as important as E-Cards and Social Media?

It took me 3 month to find Source here on Wikitree. We are always pushing the fact that we need more sources on profiles. So lets make it easier for people to find them. I would recommend that we put a link to it on

1. On the drop down under Find (E-Cards and Social Media is there, why not sources?)

2. Move it up to a top level in Category (Try to find it there, Its down about 5 levels)

3. Add a link on every profile page under Research ( bottom right), just above RootsSearch

4. Combine Source and Sources Categories.

Thanks for the suggestion to add something about sources under the Find menu.

Since a lot of this has to do with the Source / Sources categories, I've added the categorization tag so the Categorization project will see your post.

very good point, didn't even know the page with sources existed.  Just took a quick look, will have to add some pages that got missed in that list, like the Quebecois project list of sources for one.

I am all for getting this category moved up to top level for sure, the easier we make things for people to find, the better our tree will be.  Burying such priceless resources down 5 levels is just no good, most people won't go that far down.

the main space page for this needs a bit of cleaning up I think, a whole bunch of sources are categorized under the main category rather than the location category they cover.

I'm not sure how useful a category of sources actually would be. The variety and number of sources would overwhelm the Category making it mostly unusable. WikiTree isn't really a source repository although some sources do get stored here. I think a link to Sources should be in the Help pull-down menu not in Find. Sources are found at places like FamiliySearch.org, Ancestry.org, and other online and offline sites around the world.

So, more visible Help for sourcing would be my priority.

The category source is already created. If you click on source in my question or click Here it will take you to it. Many people have spent 1000's of hours putting their special sources on pages. And a special thanks goes out to all of those people.

a category like this could be overwhelming if it weren't divided up into regions, which this one is.  We need to make it better known though.

I've passed this around like crazy. Not sure how many people actually check it. Also, it is left open in case a section needs to be added or valuable links can be put at the bottom.
